The purpose of the clinic activity is the highly qualified consultation and medical aid to the students and teachers of the University and other categories of population.

The foundation of the centre also promotes more effective interdepartmental scientific investigations, the improvement of the educational process at the Medical Faculty, Institute og Nursing and Post-graduate Education Faculty, the organization of new vacancies.

Nowadays, there are such units as:

• Consultation department with the registry office.
• Laboratory department (clinical, biochemical, immunological, immunological, immunofermentative, morphological and polymerase-chain reaction laboratories).
• Diagnostics department: radiology diagnostics, ultrasound, endoscopic and densitometry.
• Department of dentistry
• Day in-patient department.

At the consultation department of the Clinic the patients have the possibility to be examined by a therapeutist, a cardiologist, a surgeon, a traumatologist, a pediatrician, a gynecologist, an ophthalmologist, an otolaryngologist, a neuropathologist, a dermatologist, an allergologist, an immunologist. Highly qualified specialists, professors and assistant professors of the University, Doctors of Medicine, Candidates of Medical sciences work here.

The physicians can prescribe their patients various contemporary functional instrumental investigations (sonography/ultrasound investigation, electrocardiography, rheovasography, esophagogastroduodenoscopy, colonoscopy, densitometry, thermography, Foll's method of examination, and laboratory analyses blood count, urinalysis, biochemical blood analysis, coagulogram, immunological, immunofermentative and radioimmune investigations, cytological, morphological analyses). The polymerase-chain reaction methods are being introduced into diagnostic and medical processes.

Densitometry laboratory

Densitometry is the method of investigating mineral density of the bone tissue to prevent and diagnose osteoporosis. The diphoton roentgen (x-ray) densitometer DPXA (“Lunar, Corp” USA) is used. The examining the vertebrae L1-L4 and 4 thigh areas in adults and children over 5 years is carried out with the accuracy of 0,02 g/ cm 2.



Esophagogastroduodenoscopy, colonoscopy

Esophagogastroduodenoscopy is endoscopic examination of the esophagus, stomach and duodenum. The apparatus Olympus GIF P3 is used. Colonoscopy is the method of examining the colon by means of the colonoscope CF 102. It is also possible to take the tissue for cytologic and pathohistologic test.



Ophthalmology

Diagnostics of ophthalmic diseases is made by means of the projector perimeter with sphere device to determine the sight margins, without reflex ophthalmoscope for the fundus examining, especially the macular area, retinoscopy, colour test to determine the character and degree of binocular sight disorder.

Blood pressure monitoring

This is the new method of treatment control in hypertension. For the observing the system of blood pressure “ABP” with “ABPE-02” registrator is used in order to monitor blood pressure and record ECG in the conditions of in-patient and out-patient departments inautonomous regimen on the given program within 28 hours with the further data processing.



Complex “Cardio”

“Complex of program apparatus automatic cardiogram analyzing CARDIO” has been worked out by the “Tales” enterprise in Kyiv.

It enables to record the heart biopotentials, with their simultaneus reflecting on the videomonitor and registrating on the paper.

The “Complex of program apparatus automatic cardiogram analyzing CARDIO” enables to determine the blood supply of the examined organ and the state of the vessels.

Ultrasound diagnostics

Diagnostic Ultrasound system “SHIMADZU-350” is meant for eamining the organs of the digestive system, the urinary system, and the reproductive system.



Laboratory

Each laboratory department is headed by the senior laboratory worker, who has taken special courses at the Post-graduate Eeducation Faculty.



Biochemical laboratory is equipped with the biochemical semiautomatic analizator “Humen”, spectrophotometer СФ-46, photoelectrocalorimeter “КФК-3”, “Рефлолюк” apparatus.



Immunological laboratory is equipped with the luminescence microscope, which provides performing analyses by means of the monoclonal serum.

Immunoferment laboratory is equipped with the immunoferment analyzer “STAT-FAZ 303” and conducts investigations of hormone level and antigen defining.

Laboratory of polymerase chain reaction is equipped with the “PERCIN ELMER” amplifier. At presents the investigations of hepatitis B,C,G virus, cytomegalovirus infection, chlamidiosis, helicobacter, papillomavirus, herpes simplex are being carried out.

Medical and consultation aid, scientific investigations are carried out due to close interrelations between all of the services and departments, by means of unique medical technology which includes functioning the local computer net work, a wide application of diagnostic and information-search medical systems, development and introducing medical technologies, office-work, stock-taking all of the material resources including remedies, financial operations etc.
